Privacy Policy

Last reviewed September 18, 2026

Short version: your graphs never leave your device. We use analytics to understand which pages are useful, and advertising to pay for the site. You can decline both.

Who we are

This policy covers Grafolyn at https://grafolyn.com. For any privacy question, contact hello@grafolyn.com.

What we do not collect

This is the part that matters most, so it goes first.

What is stored on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage for a small number of preferences. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Key Purpose
grafolyn-theme Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode
grafolyn-consent Remembers your privacy choice, so we stop asking
grafolyn-consent-at When that choice was made, so we can ask again after 180 days

Analytics

Subject to your consent, we use analytics services to understand which pages are read and where people have difficulty. This tells us which guides to improve and which features are ignored.

Both are configured through Google Consent Mode, which means that until you accept, they operate without cookies or advertising identifiers. If you decline, they stay in that restricted state.

These services are operated by Google LLC and Microsoft Corporation respectively, and their own privacy policies apply to data they process.

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads appear in the written guides only, never inside the calculator interface.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and elsewhere.

You can control this directly:

If you decline, you will still see advertising, but it will be non-personalised: selected by the content of the page rather than by any profile.

Your choices

The consent banner appears on your first visit and records your answer for 180 days. To change your mind at any time, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will appear again on your next visit.

Browser-level controls also work: disabling third-party cookies, using private browsing, or running a content blocker will all limit what these services can do. The calculator works normally in every case.

Legal bases and your rights

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our legal basis for analytics and advertising cookies is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Where the site operates without them, our basis is legitimate interest in running a functioning website.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data about you, and to object to processing or request portability. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; declining consent here exercises that choice for this site. We do not sell personal information for money.

To exercise any of these, email hello@grafolyn.com. Note that because we hold no account data, we usually have nothing associated with you to provide or erase. Requests concerning data held by Google or Microsoft should be directed to those companies, which act as independent controllers for it.

Children

This site is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data transfers and retention

We hold no personal data ourselves, so there is nothing for us to retain or transfer. Data processed by Google and Microsoft may be transferred to and stored on servers outside your country, under the safeguards described in their own policies.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because your work never leaves your device and we operate no database, the usual risks associated with stored user data do not arise here.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date below will be updated and the consent banner will be shown again. The current version was last reviewed on 18 September 2026.
